Over the years, Jennifer Aniston described her pal as a quiet canine who enjoyed resting at her feet.

(PEOPLE) -- Jennifer Aniston has lost a friend. Her beloved Welsh corgi-terrier mix, Norman, died at age 15.

"He died a few weeks ago," Aniston's rep confirms to PEOPLE. "He was an old dog and it was just his time."

Over the years, Aniston described her pal as a quiet canine who enjoyed resting at her feet.

"He's my baby boy," she told PEOPLE in February. "Norman goes with me on location -- I've got to take Norman."

The actress, who just purchased a $4.95 million apartment in New York, bought the home under the name Norman's Nest Trust.

Earlier this year, the pooch tagged along with Aniston when she was a guest on TV's "Chelsea Lately."

Host Chelsea Handler and the crowd went wild for the pup, whom Aniston affectionately called "Norm" and "Normy," and watched as the actress tried to get him to sit, but to no avail.

"He's 15 years old, he doesn't care anymore," Aniston said.

Back when he was a young pup, Norman got into his share of trouble. He reportedly disappeared for two days in 1998 and eventually turned up at an animal shelter.

But most likely the event left him unfazed: "Even back [as a puppy] he was as cool as a cucumber," Aniston told PEOPLE in 2008. "He's just a person in a dog suit."

Norman is survived by Aniston's other pup, a white German shepherd named Dolly.

Screen icon Dame Elizabeth Taylor dies

Screen icon Dame Elizabeth Taylor dies

Dame Elizabeth's many films included National Velvet, Cleopatra and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Dame Elizabeth Taylor, one of the 20th Century's biggest movie stars, has died in Los Angeles at the age of 79.

The double Oscar-winning actress had a long history of ill health and was being treated for symptoms of congestive heart failure.

Her four children were with her when she died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, her publicist said.

In a statement, her son Michael Wilding called her "an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest".

"We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mom having lived in it," he continued.

"Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts."

Dame Elizabeth's most famous films included National Velvet, Cleopatra and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

She was equally well-known for her glamour and film partnership with Richard Burton, one of seven husbands.

In her prime, she was arguably one of the world's greatest actresses and most beautiful women.

Her colourful private life, screen success and Aids charity work ensured she was never far from the spotlight since finding fame at the age of 12.

The peak of her film career came in the 1950s and 1960s, with four Oscar nominations in a row from 1958 to 1961.

She lost out in her first three attempts - for Raintree County, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Suddenly, Last Summer - but triumphed at her fourth attempt with Butterfield 8.

Her second Oscar came in 1967 for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, one of 12 films with Burton.

She met the actor while filming 1963's Cleopatra - which became notorious as one of the most expensive films of all time, but which also sparked one of Hollywood's greatest romances.

Taylor had already been married four times - to Conrad Hilton Jr, Michael Wilding, Michael Todd and Eddie Fisher - before she wed Burton in 1964.

Their tempestuous relationship saw them divorce and remarry in 1975 before she moved on to further marriages with John W Warner and Larry Fortensky.

Her health problems began with a fall while filming her first hit film, National Velvet, which led to a lifetime of back problems.

A rare strain of pneumonia almost killed her in 1961 and she also battled addictions to alcohol and painkillers.

In the 1990s, she endured two hip replacement operations and another near-fatal bout of pneumonia and survived surgery for a benign brain tumour in 1997.

In 2004, it was revealed that she was suffering from congestive heart failure, with symptoms including fatigue and shortness of breath, and scoliosis, which twisted her spine.

But she continued to campaign for her Aids charity, which she set up in 1991 after the death of her friend and co-star Rock Hudson.

In addition to her four children - Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Maria Burton-Carson and Liza Todd-Tivey - Dame Elizabeth is survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A private family funeral will be held later this week. Instead of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to the Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation.

British actress Joan Collins, who starred alongside Dame Elizabeth in the 2001 TV film These Old Broads, called her "the last of the True Hollywood Icons".

"A great beauty, a great actress and continually fascinating to the World throughout her tumultuous life and career. She will be missed," she added.

Singer George Michael said: "She also did a great deal in the last 25 yrs [sic] to help the world deal with the HIV epidemic. I am proud to have known her if only a little."

One-time co-star Sir Michael Caine also paid tribute, remembering her as "a beautiful woman, a wonderful actress, and a great human being."

'Til Death Do Us Part' tackles AIDS in rural China

'Til Death Do Us Part' tackles AIDS in rural China

AP – Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, right, and Hong Kong actor Aaron Kwok attend a promotional event of their …

HONG KONG – Director Gu Changwei is praising the all-star cast he assembled in his first film in four years, a drama exploring how AIDS impacts a rural Chinese village.

"Til Death Do Us Part" stars Zhang Ziyi, known for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," and Hong Kong actor-singer Aaron Kwok as her love interest. The cast also includes Gu's wife, actress Jiang Wenli, and veteran Chinese actor Pu Cunxin, as well as real AIDS patients.

Gu said the role of an ostracized patient "really belonged to no one other than Ziyi."

Zhang, whose recent credits include the romantic comedy "Sophie's Revenge" and the English-language thriller "Horsemen," said her role as a social outcast was extremely absorbing.

"It was very hard to separate myself from the character at any given moment. I was always living in the world of my character," Zhang told The Associated Press on the sidelines of a news conference Tuesday.

Gu started as a cinematographer for famed Chinese directors Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige on movies like "Red Sorghum," "Ju Dou" and "Farewell My Concubine." His directorial debut, the 2005 family drama "Peacock," won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, and he followed it two years later with "And the Spring Comes," starring his wife as a school teacher who aspires to be an opera singer.

Gu and Jiang marveled at the "Til Death" performances by Zhang and Kwok, a heartthrob idol who has reinvented himself as a serious actor. He won back-to-back best actor trophies at Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards — the Chinese industry's equivalent of the Oscars — in 2005 and 2006 for the crime thriller "Divergence" and the drama "After This Our Exile."

Both Gu and Jiang said they couldn't picture the glamorous Hong Kong star as a down-to-earth Chinese villager but were pleasantly surprised.

Jiang said. "But when I came on set on the first day I couldn't recognize him. That's when I thought he had succeeded."

"Til Death Do Us Part" will be released in China on May 10.

A companion documentary had its Asian premiere at the Hong Kong International Film Festival on Monday. In "Together," Chinese filmmaker Zhao Liang recorded the difficulties of finding AIDS patients to appear in the feature film.

Katie Holmes has lots of tips for making daughter Suri Cruise feel at home no matter where they are

( -- Katie Holmes spends most of her time on the road traveling -- but she's learned to navigate the nomadic lifestyle and maintain a homey feeling wherever she goes.

One of her tips for making daughter Suri Cruise, who'll be 5 in April, feel at home no matter where they are? "Bring lots of crayons, glue good paper and you can turn any room into a very warm, familial place," Holmes, 32, tells Women's Wear Daily.

Holmes -- who travels for her own career as an actress, to promote her fashion line, Holmes and Yang, and to be with husband Tom Cruise -- says one of her favorite hobbies is doing arts and crafts projects with her little one.

"My husband got me a sewing machine for my birthday," Holmes said, adding that she likes to get Suri involved. "My mom grew up making curtains and pillows and everything, and it made our home very warm, so I like to do things like that with my daughter."

Lohan 'poised to refuse plea deal'

The Mean Girls star is due back in court to tell a judge whether she intends to accept a deal in a felony grand theft case filed over a necklace reported stolen by an upmarket jewellery store.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith L Schwartz will lay out the next steps in the case at the hearing, which could include scheduling a preliminary hearing during which prosecutors would present some of their evidence in the case.

The source told of Li-Lo's intentions on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case.

Lindsay has pleaded not guilty to stealing the 2,500 US dollar necklace from Kamofie & Co, a jewellery store near her Venice home.

The store reported the item missing on January 22, roughly three weeks after the actress had been released from rehab at the Betty Ford Centre.
